Day 1

Sintra Arrival

Welcome to Portugal! Arrive at your historic quinta in Sintra, where your trip host will greet you, and you can enjoy a welcome drink and some hors d'oeuvres. You have the rest of the day to wander through Sintra or relax in the hotel's gardens. Later, gather together as a group for a welcome dinner at the hotel, as you get to know your fellow travelers.

*Airport pick-up is not included. You can easily take a taxi at the airport or pre-arrange an airport pick-up with companies such as Welcome Pickups or one that you may find on travel sites such as TripAdvisor.

Day 2

Tile Workshop & Wine Pairing

This morning, we'll head to a family-run workshop where Portugal's iconic hand-painted tiles are still made using traditional techniques. After seeing the process firsthand, you'll paint your own tile to take home as a unique reminder of your time in Portugal.

From there, we'll continue to a local winery to sample regional wines and cheeses while learning a little about the area's winemaking traditions.

Before returning to Sintra, we'll stop at the towering Christ the King statue, where sweeping views stretch across Lisbon, the Tagus River, and the iconic 25 de Abril Bridge. You'll then have the rest of the evening free to grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants tucked along Sintra's cobbled streets.

Monserrate & Cascais

We'll spend the morning at Monserrate Palace, one of Sintra's most memorable estates. We'll stroll through its colorful gardens, admire the ornate palace, and enjoy a slower pace away from the larger crowds.

Next, we'll head to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, where dramatic cliffs plunge into the Atlantic Ocean, creating one of Portugal's most breathtaking coastal landscapes.

From there, we'll follow the Atlantic shoreline to Cascais, passing rugged cliffs, secluded coves, and sweeping ocean views along the way. Once we arrive, you'll have free time to wander the lively streets, stroll by the marina, and choose a spot for lunch in this charming seaside town.

Lisbon

Don’t fill up at breakfast this morning because we’ll be eating our way through Lisbon! Along the way, we'll make our way through some of the city's most character-filled neighborhoods, sample local specialties, and discover how Lisbon's history and culture come to life through its food. The experience wraps up with a private fado performance and a lunch filled with traditional Portuguese flavors.

Afterward, you can return to the hotel with the group or continue exploring Lisbon at your own pace and catch a taxi back.

Day 5

Free Day

Today is completely free to explore at your own pace. You might visit the hilltop Moorish Castle, wander through the gardens and tiled courtyards of Fronteira Palace, or head into Lisbon to browse the shops and explore the lively streets of Chiado. You could also spend some time in Belém, where grand riverside monuments, leafy promenades, and a stop for a warm pastel de nata make for an easy and enjoyable afternoon. Or simply slow down, follow whatever catches your eye, and see where the day takes you. Your trip host will be happy to share suggestions based on your interests.

Day 6

Quinta da Regaleira & Pena Palace

We’ll begin the day at Quinta da Regaleira, one of Sintra’s most intriguing estates. Explore its winding pathways, hidden tunnels, underground grottoes, and the mystic Initiation Well.

Next comes one of the day's highlights: an elegant lunch at Seteais Palace, a grand historic property overlooking the Sintra hills. We'll settle in for a leisurely meal amid the palace's grand interiors, polished service, and old-world atmosphere.

Afterward, we'll continue to Pena Palace, perched high above Sintra. We'll wander through its colorful rooms and terraces, with panoramic views stretching across the hills toward the coastline.

Day 7

Óbidos and Porto

Today, we say goodbye to the fairytale town of Sintra and hit the road toward Porto, with a stop in the medieval hilltop town of Óbidos. You’ll have plenty of free time to amble through its photogenic,  flower-draped alleys, do some window shopping, and soak up the atmosphere. Stroll cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses, pop into quirky bookshops and artisan boutiques, and climb the castle walls for sweeping views. Don’t forget to snap a photo in front of the 12th-century fortress — this picturesque town was once a wedding gift to Portuguese queens.

Next, we'll make our way to Porto, the birthplace of the legendary Port wine, where you’ll have the evening free.

Let’s check out what delicious treats Porto has to offer on a guided food tour. Our guide will tell us about “The Invincible City” and show us hidden local gems as we sample delicacies that showcase Porto’s rich culinary heritage. After the tour, you are free to explore Porto on your own. Whether you’re into shopping, sightseeing, or sampling local treats, your trip host can provide recommendations. And for book lovers (or Harry Potter fans!), a visit to Livraria Lello is a must as it’s one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world!

Porto & Douro Valley

Today, we’ll experience the breathtaking Douro Valley wine region in style, famous for its terraced vineyards and world-class wines. Your first stop is a top-notch quinta (estate) where you’ll gain insight into the history of Douro wines and, of course, taste some of them! We’ll have lunch in wine country paired with wines from the estate. Following lunch, we’ll head to another quinta to sample some of Porto’s famous wines, expertly paired with chocolate. We’ll conclude the day with a scenic cruise back to Porto.

Take it easy today and see more of Porto at your speed. Meander through the vibrant streets, hunt for that perfect souvenir, or revisit your favorite spots for one last look. This evening, get ready for a farewell to remember! We’ll set sail on a private boat for a cruise as you take in the stunning views of the Douro River as the sun sets in the background. This is the way to see Porto and the ultimate way to spend your last night in Portugal!
