Welcome to Finland! Arrive in Helsinki and settle into your hotel downtown with several trendy restaurants and bars nearby. You might choose to head to the Old Town for some sightseeing or you can rest and get over the jet lag in preparation for the adventures that lie ahead.

Today you will not depart until mid-afternoon so you will have free time to explore Helsinki on your own before heading out. Then, catch a flight to Ivalo to begin your adventure in Lapland's winter wonderland. Upon arrival at the hotel, check in, have lunch, and have some time to freshen up and take in your new surroundings. Later on, you will get fitted for your winter gear outfits. Later, have dinner together as a group followed by the first night chasing the Northern Lights. Go by sled to an aurora camp to get warm and toasty inside a kota (traditional hut with a small fire for warmth and cooking). There'll be a bonfire going outside where you can stay warm as you watch for the Lights and drink hot cocoa.

End the night in your aurora cabin gazing at the sky right from your bed.

Spend the day like locals and try your hand at ice fishing! Hop on a sleigh pulled by a snowmobile and head out to a nearby lake. Start by drilling a hole in the ice and then, try to catch some fish from right under your feet. Lunch will be by an open fire and if you're lucky, it will consist of the catch of the day along with some traditional local reindeer or tofu kebabs!

This morning, learn how to drive snowmobiles and then, make your way across the beautifully forested landscapes of Lapland to a reindeer farm. (If you'd prefer to ride there by sleigh, this can be arranged.) Meet reindeer herders in traditional dress and hear all about reindeer and life in the wilderness over a warm drink. You'll also learn about the reindeer herders' way of life followed by a reindeer sleigh ride.

In the afternoon, have some time to rest and warm up at the hotel before heading back out into the wilderness in search of the Northern Lights by car.

Get ready for an experience of a lifetime and a "must do" when in Lapland: A husky safari! Husky safaris are a unique way to travel through Finland's wintry landscapes as your loyal sled runners slice through crisp plains of snow. Connect with the tranquility of Mother Nature as you take in the wild beauty of the great outdoors.

On the safari, you'll learn how to work with your own brigade of huskies. There will be 1 driver and 1 passenger. Halfway through the activity, you can switch roles if you'd like.  If you feel more comfortable just being a passenger, we'll pair you up with someone who prefers to drive the whole time.

Lunch will be together at the hotel before enjoying some much-deserved R&R. You can warm up in your sauna but if you're looking for more adventure, the hotel also rents out snowshoes that are great for a walk on the soft, pillowy snow around the hotel grounds.

Have breakfast and then, take a flight back to Helsinki where you will have the rest of the day free to explore Finland's capital. You can unwind from your Arctic adventure at the hotel or if you're up for it, check out the city's beautiful cathedrals and Old Market Hall filled with local specialties.
